The Bid Book
The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Bid team has worked hard to create a winning bid book which was submitted with pride to the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) on 11 May 2011. The final decision of the host city was announced in November 2011.Our bid shares the story of how the Gold Coast is the destination capital of Australia and how we all want to share our great city with the world.
We showcase our existing sporting events that already see tens of thousands of athletes flock to our shores each year and our plans to build a Games Village that meets all the athletes' needs. Our detailed planning highlights the transport, accommodation and facilities that are bound to make it the most effortless Games in history.
The bid book also demonstrates our friendly community, endless sunshine and great food that are second to none and will help athletes deliver a personal best on our shores. Out of the Commonwealth Games Federation, 71 delegates had a representative vote on who they think should host the 2018 Commonwealth Games and on 11 Novemeber 2011 their decision was Gold Coast City.
